Do we deserve to have the world at our
fingertips at all times through our young age or should we allow the gradual
shift that takes hold as we grow and develop into this intermixed society? One
of the most crippling things that has it's digital hand grasped around our
generation just happens to be the brightest thing we see from morning till
night. The Internet, social media, mobile games, videos have captivated the
thoughts of youth, isolating each other from the binds to real life within a
web of highlights, posts; an infinite distraction. Along with the impulsions of
society," It is tempting to discuss “media addiction” as a catch-all term
for spending too much time online but there are so many opportunities for
digital natives to engage in harmful activities"(Attard, Griffiths),which
exploits hidden natures that shouldn't come up in them. So as this granted access explodes amongst
the common people, what's to stop it from cutting the throat of the real you.
Out of the centuries in which we've lived and triumphed through upon this earth, we constantly provoke allocated measures of distractions with daily entertainments. Each new day divides the time meant for others but begotten for the sole purpose of dietary digital devotions. While the only ones who could find the answers and restrict these individual separation only fund their benefit that cripples society. Within the twentieth century people of all demographics of race, age, and people have slowly been turned to this sight. As the radio arrive at the nation's door ,”In 1936, the music magazine the Gramophone reported that children had "developed the habit of dividing attention between the humdrum preparation of their school assignments and the compelling excitement of the loudspeakers, voice into every household(Bell). Every new technology that would inevitably arrive only continued these unnecessary habits of development to the brain; computer, telephone, tablet, social media, email, texting and gaming. With such developments also came for the psychological choices of what runs around and is fed to them from each various portal of information or distraction from common ground. From all of these occurrences and overuse we ask how much of our mind remains tied to our own intuition in spite of our guardians.

All parts of humanities tasks and
consumptions grasp an overbearing necessity and attraction by the mind, heart
and soul. However the reliance and addictions to one thing tend to throw of the
course of the other resources that allow real survival over digital corruption
unto the world. Technology has become this naturalization factor in which
reverts us to an inner state as opponents voiced concerns about how television might hurt radio,
conversation, reading, and the patterns of family living and result in the further vulgarization of American
culture."(Bell).
More so in the last decade have people lost themselves in their circles of
entertainment to death in the mind, body or soul. Driving themselves into a
sunken region of psyche that would allow the intermission of resources to
livelihood of necessity. Some result in an imminent end without a care in the world:
Cold temperatures and over-exhaustion from the long hours spent playing games
likely contributed to Hsieh's cardiac arrest, a police statement said.
According to the Taipei Times, the man was a "regular customer" who
often played for consecutive days. “When tired, he would sleep face down on the
table or doze off slumped in his chair. Rapidly increasing people would isolate
themselves leaving everything for a screen to take over everything that means
to them. So has our history that is meant to benefit strengthen and encourage a
brighter tomorrow only force us into deeper despairs and turmoil’s.
While it's one of the most difficult
underlying points of society there will always be at least one person that
succumbs to epidemics and addictions away from reality. Provoking their own
exhaustion, mental capacity, reflection of resources to constantly rise and
fall unpredictably while living on the screen. First would come the lack
towards education like,” a 15-year-old from Perth, Australia, skipped school to
play online games for over 16 hours a day, over a full three weeks”, breaking
ties of trust and time over a game(Lam).Second states the fear that lies underneath
each avatar such as, “Nomophobia: The fear of being without your phone
FOMO: The Fear Of Missing Out PIU: Problematic Internet Use IGD:
Internet Gaming Disorder IAD:
Internet Addiction Disorder”, from not existing in this outcast community for
exaggeration and absurdities. As people very drastically takes these walks down
into an abyss stripped of the crucial ties of life,” a three-year-old South Korean girl died of neglect when her parents
spent more time raising a virtual girl than her”, with all the time spent to
raise specs and gigabytes over feeling and touch. There are many lines we cross
and justify as we never know the things we lose until it's too late to try and
restore them; life, freedom, addiction. While there have been lesser strides to
actions allocated to death or rashness, ”A Chinese teenager has been rushed to
hospital after chopping off his hand in a desperate attempt to cure his
addiction to the internet,” in the attempts for cures or the final temptations
of the angered unstable mind. Gambling junkies, porn junkies, social media
junkies all see the internet as the gate to their “fix” for life, truth and happiness. While we
stay and encourage its use without the enlightenment to the kickback like with
drugs and drinking. It's time for us to stand up and stop these outbreaks of
citizens becoming examples over all of us.
Resolve
Without rules we fall down and crumble
down to dust in a relentless chaos, without limits we are left to wander an
infinite abyss to individual hindrances. However without continuous access
these resources just remain lost left within a void only meant as the last
resort of “freedom”. Despite all of the provoked harm it has bring about so
much more goodness shall be reaped from it just as for everything else in the
world. Each and every thing brought about to cripple us has come under the
scrutiny of checks and balances, or otherwise management of ourselves. Making
sure for ourselves that we are capable of more for; “But technology is not
purely for entertainment. It has become a necessary tool for doing business and
managing one’s life. Calendars help people to manage appointments on the go,
GPS maps give people real-time directions as well as notifications about heavy
traffic, emergency warnings are broadcast to the public, and many make use of
the copious apps available to automate everything from nanny cams to preheating
the oven. This means that managing addiction to technology through
treatment in recovery is more like managing food addiction or addiction to sex
when in a romantic relationship; it is a behavior that cannot be entirely
abstained from. Thus, it is imperative to not only learn healthier coping mechanisms
to manage the issues that drive compulsive use of technology but also to learn
how to engage with technology in a healthy way and to make and maintain
boundaries that are sustainable, to continuing on as we can (solutions). Each
border that is marked up relies on the
ability to expand or deplete upon itself within our individual ranges of
control to the abyss.
Conclusion
Our society has funded, entertained and
have overall succumbed to the lies and fantasies in which technology has
infinitely flowed abundantly in direct oppression of humanities order as well
as our justified action. All throughout our homes, individuals drown in these illusion
graves that attempt to bury despair, depression, reality within small compact
portable idols in the never satisfied wish for purpose, love, or personal
escape. While some do find an nirvana it all comes to an end for them, loved
ones or friends. As goes with any social epidemic I ask you; why do we stand
alone and do nothing without a care for welfare and being anyway? How can we
sit quietly at the feet of an obsessive greed we have been unable to stop
fueling but rather to look at real stars. The citizens of earth argue that this
technological advancement has allowed for a greater use and fluency in humanities
binary code, and while true to a degree should it justify existence? Always
there would be a diffuser to prevent such rapid growth of substance that would
hinder that individual part of us longing for leave elsewhere within all of our
cosmos small forgotten specs of logic. Humanity is a strong great class of
survivors, inventors, scientist, artists, designers, and philosophers who
strive for our greatness so if we screenagers are unable to surpass our
addictions who could be and when should we be able to reach our equilibrium.
